Stas Lopatkin is a young Petersburg designer, a creative mind that has already received wide acclaim from both the public and as well as professional societies. Women's clothing created by Lopatkin is characterized by its original and charmingly fragile style: It is a combination of actual world trends and indeed of an elegant Petersburg approach-"retrospectivism," in the words of the designer.
   Stas Lopatkin was born in Leningrad. He was educated in sewing school and the Graphic Arts Department of the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia. His professional route, beginning with work on theater design and the execution of private orders, led Lopatkin to the creation in 2001 of his own brand and the opening of Studio of Beautiful Clothes in St. Petersburg.
   Soon after his debut at Petersburg Fashion Week ("Defile on the Neva") in the spring of 2003, talk began about Lopatkin. The Fall-Winter Collection, "Overture", consisted on a coat and dress with fur trim and chiffon bows, rabbit furs with hoods, and fur cardigans. A bohemian and rather bold femininity expressed color, complex textures and an abundance of symbolic details-the designer's characteristic signature is, today, becoming immediately clear. The creative method of designer and artist, Stas Lopatkin, is a harmonious compromise between completely practical elegance and allusions rising toward a refined art and great aristocratic culture.
   Every season, Studio of Beautiful Clothes presents a new collection to both the Russian and foreign public. At these times, European runways repeatedly admitted Lopatkin: Russian evening in Milan's Palazzo Reale, a showing of evening dresses with the embellished hats of Countess Diana Bernadotte, the stylish show, "Dancing", and a performance by the Stuttgart Ballet on the Count's castle on the island of Mainau in Germany.
   Lopatkin's regular clients come from not only St. Petersburg and Moscow, but also from New York, Paris, Milan and London. Lopatkin's clothing is certainly for interesting women who are confident in their smart and romantic expressions of everyday things.
